The Philanthropy Project

Each year, United Way of Summit County generously supports the Signature program to experience grantmaking firsthand. As Leadership Akron alumni fill leadership and board roles at a number of foundations and other grantmaking institutions, leaders who have a heightened sense of philanthropy will make a difference in improving our community’s quality of life.

CLASS 34: Youth Impact Grant

The current Leadership Akron Class developed the Youth Impact Grant as the focus for its 2018 philanthropy project. The grant will apply to a maximum of two organizations, which must be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, religious group, or tax-supported educational institution. Organizations who are able to collaborate to make a greater impact as a result of each of their areas of expertise are preferred. The purpose of this grant is to encourage organizations to support youth in one or more of the four following areas: basic needs, after school support/programming, leadership/social skills development, or college/career readiness.

Class 34 is offering a grant(s) totaling up to $10,000. The grant, made possible through the generous support of United Way of Summit County, will be awarded by June 2018. "Class 34 is so grateful to United Way of Summit County for their continued support of the Leadership Akron philanthropy project," said Andrea Conti, Clerk of Cuyahoga Falls Mayor's Court and Committee Chair for the project. "We look with excitement toward the opportunities this will offer to the youth in our community."
