Junior Leadership Akron Program
Junior Leadership Akron is modeled after the Leadership Akron Signature Program and provides community awareness and leadership skills for high school juniors throughout Summit County. Through a nine-month curriculum of community-based experiences, participants become familiar with current issues, community and natural resources, and other factors influencing Akron's future.
Leaders Ready To Grow.
DEVELOP LEADERSHIP:
Increase students' self-confidence by providing opportunities to practice and use leadership skills.
SHOWCASE COMMUNITY:
Broaden and deepen students' connection to community.
COMMIT TO SERVE:
Plant the seeds of service by encouraging students to serve others in their schools and communities.
BUILD RELATIONSHIPS:
Allow students to meet other individuals they would never otherwise meet during their high school experience.
The application process is also underway for Junior Leadership Akron (Class 38). Current tenth-graders (who will be juniors next year) in any Summit County high school with an interest in Junior Leadership Akron for 2024-25 should discuss this with their school counselors as soon as possible.
The program is generously funded by The J.M. Smucker Co.
