Mark and Sandy Auburn
2024 Read Family Difference Maker Award Recipients
For nearly 15 years, Mark and Sandy Auburn have been pillars of Leadership Akron’s community, leaving an indelible mark on its programs and participants. As inaugural members of the NEXT Program, they have played instrumental roles in planning and mentoring, particularly in the Arts and Culture segment. Their commitment extends to empowering Diversity on Board participants and inspiring future generations of leaders. Sylvia Trundle
2024 Lieberth Community Vision Award Recipient
Sylvia Trundle has dedicated her life to Akron, blending service, advocacy, and leadership in every facet of her career. As a retired Akron Police Department captain, Sylvia led with integrity and was a pioneer for equity in law enforcement. Today, her contributions span numerous boards, including the Akron Community Foundation and Truly Reaching You, where she continues to uplift underserved communities. Sylvia’s unwavering vision and compassion reflect the spirit of the Lieberth Community Vision Award and inspire Akron’s leaders to serve boldly.
Phil Maynard

Phil Maynard’s name is synonymous with leadership, philanthropy, and transformative impact. A founding trustee of Leadership Akron, Phil was instrumental in creating the NEXT Program and establishing the organization’s endowment fund, ensuring a sustainable future for leadership development. Celebrating the Growth of Insight Akron 2024
This year, we were thrilled to host our largest-ever class for Insight Akron, our intensive one-day introduction to the city and its leaders. On October 22, 2024, senior-level leaders from diverse industries came together to explore Akron's rich history, engage with its key decision-makers, and discover the unique assets that make our community thrive.
From site visits to interactive presentations, participants had the opportunity to build connections and gain valuable insights into Greater Akron. Insight Akron continues to be an ideal program for new leaders in our community, leaders new to the area, or those wanting to reconnect with our vibrant community.
